Hello Everyone:

I was cleaning my AR after shooting over the weekend using shooters choice to scrub when I got home and leaving in Hoppes #9 overnight.  I got up in the moring and the first patch was blue.  I understand that this is due to the copper being dissolved.  Well anyway all the powder fouling is gone and I've been doing patch after patch of Hoppes and it's still coming out blue.  It's getting tiresome.

Is there a good solvent out there that will take out the copper fouling more easily?

Thanks everyone for your responses.

+2.
I also like the BoreTech Benchrest Blend and the Copper Remover.The Copper Remover works as fast as the Sweets.The Benchrest Blend works slower but is good for powder and copper fouling much like Butches.
I like the Hoppe's #9 for soaking nasty bores like on milsurps etc. for a few days.And for normal light clean ups where a solvent is needed.
Especially frosted or pitted bores.Works great if the #9 is allowed to soak.

I use Hoppe's #9 until the patch comes out clean (no powder), and then Sweet's it until those patches come out clean (no blue). Got my M70 back to shooting good groups now that I got all that copper fouling out.

Here ya go minsane;

A simple and easy to read test in an effort to cut through some of the hype about gun cleaning products. I liked what was posted at the top of his page:
Fr. Frog's Rule of Chemicals:  There are no magic cleaners nor lubricants.

The solvents tested included:  Accubore, Barnes CR-10, BreakFree CLP, Butch's Bore Shine, Ed's Red (a home brew), Hoppes #9 (current formula), generic brand household (3%) ammonia, generic brand  janitor's strength (10%) ammonia, Kroil, Marksman's Choice MC-7, Marksman's Choice Copper Solvent,  ProTech, and Sweets 7.62. These tests were done in 4 parts parts.  A copper solvent test, a copper fouling test, a carbon removing test, and a rust test test.  While the test conditions may not perfectly simulate a dirty rifle bore they are standardized and repeatable and I believe the results provide a valid comparison of the various products.

Gun Cleaning Solvent Tests

Based on the test, I'd choose either Barnes CR-10 or Sweets 7.62
