Just got bit with BRD, started to put together my lower tonite, and busted the roll pin that holds the bolt release catch in place.  Any suggestions on getting it out?   Taking a punch to the back side doesn't work cause of the contouring on the mag well.

Thanks in advance for helping out a newbie!

Brownells has a tool, a punch, that is contoured around the magwell.
Let me look....

They used to have a pic, but not now.

There are other places/pix, I haven't found a clear pic yet.

There are other ways, mostly make sure you cover the anodized areas around where you're working with duct tape so you don't scratch the finish on the gun at this point when you slip with a tool.

This is important:

Take Your Time.

Be Careful.

You'll be happier in the end.

Why don't you just drive the broken piece out with the new pin or use an undersized pin for a punch?

If that won't work or you don't want to risk it, it's not hard to duplicate the Brownell punch with a bench grinder and a regular pin punch. Just make sure to keep dunking the punch in water while grinding so you don't overheat it and ruin the heat treatment.
