Should
I worry about that little nick on my crown? I installed a PWS FSC556
Suppressing Compensator and noticed that the some finish was coming off
the barrel after 400 rounds through it.  So I took it off to wipe clean
the muzzle to see how much finish was taken off. The pics below is after
cleaning.  That’s when I noticed a little nick on crown. I’m going to
go back to the stander A2 flash hider as I didn’t see a major gain with
the PSW FSC 556. Is the nick something to worry about?

No it won't hurt anything, but if it bothers you take a little fine emery cloth on a small punch or something of that nature and polish it out.

Doesn't bother me as long it does not affect accuracy.  I put the A2 back on.  I may try the battle comp when I have the money.  Is it normal for the finish to come off with a brake?  Wasn't like that when I put the brake on.

I just had to cut off a permed PWS 556.  I couldn't take the noise and blast of it, and I wanted to put a silencer mount on the barrel anyway.

The finish didn't come off of mine with 1400 rounds through it.  It is a BCM barrel.

I can't imagine not being able to feel the benefit of the brake though.  It's obvious to me that the recoil is reduced... it's just not worth the noise and blast.

(I wouldn't worry about the finish being gone.... my barrels usually have a little CLP left over in that area after cleaning anyway.)

This is the S&W factory installed barrel. I didn't notice much reduced recoil.  this is a carbine gas system.  It did not reduced as much recoil as the KKF brake I had on another gun. To be fair the other gun is a 20" rifle gas system, But compared to other 20" AR with the same gas system, the KKF did an excellent job and made it feel like a 22LR gun.

With the FSC 556, it reduced the recoil, just not as much as I expected.
