| So I'm gathering Intel for a rifle built on an AR45 lower from CNCGuns. I've got most of it built on paper, including an upper by Rudy from Macon Armory. One of the last things I have yet to nail down the details on is the muzzle device. Ideally, I would want a Noveske KX5 flash hider. The threading would match up (5/8x24), but obviously the caliber would be the issue. Does anyone know if I could have a KX5 modified to clear .45 ACP? If so, who could do it? And if not, where could I have a muzzle device made that just has the look of a KX5? |

I've never seen a KX5 in person but I'm going to assume the setup is similar to the KX3 only slimmer.
I wouldn't think it would be terribly difficult but the effectiveness of it maybe lessened in the process. Cut down the internal cone to a point where the internal diameter is large enough for a .451 diameter projectile to go through it. |

5/8 = .625"
.625" - .451 = .174" .174" / 2 = .087" of barrel wall thickness at the muzzle. If you run the same numbers for the Colt 9mm SMG and its 1/2x36 muzzle threads, you get .072" So the .45 has more wall thickness at the muzzle using a 5/8x24 than the 9mm does with 1/2x36. |
