Just wondering if threads AND 3 lugs are common on these custom barrels. I ask because I am looking for a nice all around barrel solution when I SBR my Colt 6450. I want to add a suppressor that can be used on my Glock 19 in addition to the AR. So I am looking into all options of suppressor --> barrel attachment so that I may properly affix the suppressor to the AR and Glock. Looks like you have a pretty good solution there. Nice! jonblack |

Using a 3-lug suppressor on a "navy" (both e3-lug and threaded) can be problematic. The thread protector must not come loose while shooing with a 3-lug can, an dthe thread protector must also be th ewsame OD as the barrel so that the 3-lug mount will be sturdy. HK threaded the tip of their "navy" barrels at the request of the US NAvy... they wanted to use threaded suppressor, not 3-lug... they never intended to use either. And it was simpler for HK to thread their 3-lug barrels than to create a new barrel without the 3-lug tip. It is a common misperception that HK designed the navy barrel to be multi use. It can be muti use, but the thread protector under a 3-lug can might cause you grief. |
| Yes i've heard of some people having problems using a QD suppressor with navy barrels. I think the smooth thread protector works better than the knurled thread protectors though. When the thread protector is in place it looks just like a normal 3 lug barrel. And i plan on using loc-tite to make sure the thread protector stays in place also when using a QD suppressor. I think it should work fine. But i will find out when i get my QD suppressor in. |

Pardon my ignorance, but are there many good flash suppressors/brakes that are 3 lug? Would I be better off getting a threaded barrel, a 3 lug adapter, and a 3 lug suppressor? Keep in mind I want to be able to use the suppressor on my Glock 19 as well. Thanks in advance jonblack |
| There is the HK flash hider and QD suppressors for the three lug barrels. There are many more accessories for threaded barrels out there. Most people get the three lug barrel just for a quick detach suppressor and nothing else. If i wasn't getting a QD suppressor, i wouldn't have used this barrel for sure. For a Glock suppressor it has to be threaded. So i would use a threaded barrel that is 1/2 x 24 TPI if i was you. You should also look into the Gemtech Trinity suppressor where you can use threaded barrels and QD three lug barrels with it when using different adapters for it. Trinity |
