I'm trying to install an A2 hider on a 15" barrel with silver solder. Yeah, I know but this is a shit barrel and I don't have time to get someone to weld it.

So heres my problem. I have done eveything right, cleaned both parts very well, applied my paste and heated until red. The problem is the damn hider will come loose if I apply a good amount of pressure with a wrench.

I can see solder on both sets of threads but this shit is not holding. I'm using Brownells no run paste. It melts at 1100.

What the hell am I doing wrong?

Anyone?

If its a shit barrel then demeling in a flat in the threads should not be a problem. That would fix you right up.

Did you remove the parkerizing off the threads inside the hider? If not the silver solder won't stick. I have had to use either a small wire wheel on a dremel tool or a tap to remove the finish.
