There are plenty of guy shooting DPMS rifles around, although I suspect it might be difficult for someone from your country to get their hands on one due to the export issues.

YMMV, but I'd choose a LMT, BCM, CMMG, Bushmaster or Colt rifle over the DPMS.

Thanks for your answer, the reason I am asking is there is at second hand gun for sale here in Denmark.
It seams okay, but it is always nice to have a second a opinion on DPMS.

My dream is to own at Oberland Arms, but...

Lot's of people will tell you there are better rifles out there, yes there are and most are more expensive. If you find a DPMS for 750.00 or less total, go for it if you're on a budget. If you have money to spend get a RRA, Bushy, Armalite, etc. for a few hundred more.

The DPMS will work great for you on a budget. If you don't have a lot of money to spend don't get frustrated with people telling you to get something else.

The probleme her in Denmark is, that a standart Armalite cost around 2000 dollers.
I have at boddy who owns 2 Aarmalite and they are crapI have testet the DPMS an it seems to work okay, but...

Pros, best bang for the buck.
Cons, none

Ford/Chevy

Yamaha/Honda

DPMS/"fill in the balnk"

The "hateraide" drinkers should be here soon with all kinds of un-supported problems.

I have a DPMS lower w/ a CMMG upper and it is just as good if not better than my Colt
and my Spikes lowers.  I have had absolutely no problems w/ it and plan to buy a few more soon. Most lowers like Colt, CMMG, DPMS, Rock River, etc. are made by the same people and there is no difference between them.  The only thing that is going to matter is which one you can get where you are and for how much you can afford.
Good luck with your selection and if you can go DPMS.

I myself ues LMT now

But I did shoot with a guy at my range he had a DPMS M4 like with a Laser crimson type

Man that PANTHER could shoot some tight ass groups at 100 yards useing Q3131

For a range/Target rifle I think they are good to go

I have no trouble useing there forged lowers for a build

I both have and have used DPMS products with complete satisfaction.  While not a top-tier maker, they are good bang for the buck.

The only thing you might want to consider is that the vast majority of DPMS barrels are not chrome-lined.  If that is an issue for you, you  may want to select another rifle or consider replacing the barrel.

Either way, let us know if you get and, oh yeah, POST PICS!

I have Colt and DPMS AR's. The DPMS has been just as reliable and accurate as the Colts. I probably have at least 1500 rounds through the DPMS. Armalite, Bushmaster, Colt, DPMS, Rock River Arms, CMMG, Stag, all make some fine rifles, plus many others I am sure that I have left out.

I own several DPMS products and have owned many more over the years.  The only problem I have personally encountered with one was a particular upper that was "finicky" on the first several mags through it.  After a few hundred rounds it ran fine and has given me no more problems (I still have it).

Good luck!

I recently picked a Lite 16 and am thrilled with it. I like the finish more than Bushmaster personally and it was about 200$ cheaper to boot. Its 100% reliable and more accurate than I am. I use it for hunting and dont see how I could be any better equiped even if it was a Wilson or Baur.

I have 4 DPMS lowers right now and 2 DPMS uppers, a buddy of mine has a DPMS m-4 copy and a DPMS LR-308, he loves both of them.

I have also owned 3 other DPMS complete/partial rifles over the years and have sold them only because I wanted to buy/play with something else.

I myself have never had any problems with DPMS.

Good luck.

Another DMPS lover here. Like most have said DPMS rifles are just as good as most others. A lot of people here have a friend that has a friend that has a cousin that had a problem with one and now they are shit. I have used complete DPMS uppers and plenty of the LPK's without negative results. If you can get it for a decent price in Denmark funds I say go for it also.

DPMS uses and or makes cheap firearm stuff. As far as I am concerned, a rifle is not where you wana go cheap. Buy cheap socks, cheap shoes, cheap furniture, but please for gods sake do not buy cheap rifles!
But if youre not expecting much then yea, i guess the DPMS will do. But for a bit more you could have a really good rifle like an LMT, BCM, CMMG (very nice stuff!) or get Denny to build you an upper. Ive never bought a complete rifle, I always build or buy upper and lower seperate, you can get a better rifle for less that way. Trust me, dont go the cheap way with AR's.

ah the usual mentality of if i spend more it must be better than yours.

Seriously though, there are only so many parts on an AR that are moving and can fail.  The BCG can be replaced, so can the LPK.  If something fails, replace it.

Their lowers and LPK's are nice.  Just make sure that the barrel you get does not have a chamber too tight for 5.56.  They had some problems awhile back stamping barrels w/ 5.56 when in fact they were chambered for .223

I put my DPMS lower with a 20" Bushy upper and it's fit is much better than my Match Target M-4 Colt.......

Take that for what it's worth.

GX90,  I guess this is the first post i have ever seen downing Armalite rifles. I have the M15A2 HBar which i purchased in 2000 and it has been flawless. With 50 grain TNT Speer bullets i have my groups (5 shot) to less than an inch and 3 shot groups to around 5/8 of an inch or so. Using factory ammo it will shoot around 1 1/4 inch to 1 1/2 inches or so. What is the problem with your buddies guns? I would like to express some input on the AR15, and that is to always use high quality magazines. I use Armalite and Colt mags. Oh almost forgot, that i am using a 2X7 Leupold which is not enough scope but it has yielded me some good groups.  Sorry to hear about your friends rifles but they have a lifetime guarantee. Good shooting ,

I have a Colt, a Bushmaster, and two DPMS'.

I am perfectly satisfied with my DPMS rifles and have never had either one malfunction, except once due to a bad (follower stuck) magazine.  These are not safe queens, as both have had thousands of rounds through them, often many hundreds of rounds in a single trip to the range.

I was sceptical when I bought my first one, because it was pretty inexpensive compared to Colt et. al. -- I planned on selling it if it was a lemon.  But I have been very happy with mine in every respect and now trust them completely.

Like all AR's it needs to be kept clean, well lubed and be shot with only good magazine.

And for the elitists out there, I am a US Army Infantry vet, and I do know what weapons go through in the field, so spare me your lecture.

I see a lot of pro' for the DPMS and at few con.

I would like to use it for hunting, and bye time, get a 6,8 mm upper for it as well.

But how would it interchange with other parts? fx Armalite, Bushmaster etc

And what about 3rd. part like Timney trigger?

It is going to be my first AR15, and there is nok so many AR's here en Denmark, so it would SO nice to here a lot of pro' for the DMPS, as well as con's

Is there anything that I should look after on a second hand DPMS???

My DPMS has not failed me yet.
I bought the Panther Classic 16 and had a heavy chromed line barrel installed. I spent extra on Cryo and fluteing also. Very please with the accuracy out of it.

My friend has the Lo-Pro Classic and the Panther Bull Sweet Sixteen. Both are very accurate and have never failed on him. He shoots a lot of competetions locally and both rifles have done him well...he actually won the Panther Bull.

If you can I would go for:
chromed linel barrel
2 stage trigger
