was going to switch out my a2 fh to a dntc brake and had a question. i have a crush washer and a peel washer (both new) and wondered if there is an advantage to using one or the other? also i see that the torque rating is 15-20#s, is a torque wrench necessary or is it more like a snug it down and then time it situation? also, do i need any type of locking compound on it or would it just get burnt off? normally when i would torque something, i would lube the treads, is this necessary - is the exact amount that important? would just like to do this correctly once |

A peel washer is only necessary if you are mounting a suppressor in order to keep the brake in line with the bore. You can use a crush washer otherwise. Make sure you use a good anti seize on the threads and lubricate the faces of the crush washer. You'll find it is easier to index the brake that way. Tighten, loosen, tighten until you get it where you want it.
No torque wrench required and you should not need Rocksett if done properly. |
