I just received my DPMS 308, but have not yet gotten the chance to fire it.

While playing around with it, I noticed that the bolt will not stay back when cocked with an empty mag inserted.

Does the bolt stay back after the last round of the mag is fired, like AR-15s?

I can get the bolt to stay back if I do it manually.

It should stay back. While holding the bolt back with the charging handle, see if the mag follower is pushing the bolt catch up,see if the bolt group is all the way back too.Make sure the mag is fully inserted.

Thanks for the info!

I just loaded a dummy round into the mag, inserted mag, cocked, fired, pulled charging handle rearward, and the bolt catch did pop up and grab the front edge of the bolt.
