Been researching the AR 308 for a build. Decided upon DPMS for several reasons. I have looked at all the posts that describe compatibility issues with the DPMS 308 and AR 15s. Seems I see many types  of handguards on DPMS 308s, so I am inclined to think AR15 forearms are compatible with the DPMS 308, but I dont remember reading if they are. So, are they?

If so, what is a good source for a selection of basic free float handguards for DPMS 308?

AR15 handguards will not work on the LR-308.. the barrel nut is much bigger.

Since you are building.. use a Fulton upper receiver.. the DPMS flat tops have a lower rail than EVERY OTHER .308 AR in existence.. so the rails only match up with DPMS products.. I have a Troy on my DPMS.. the height difference is noticable.. and if you need the rails to be continuous all the way.. then you need to get a different upper.. or buy one of the DPMS rails. On the flip side.. the Troy MRF-308 is an awesome handguard, very impressed with it.

Thanks for the answer.

I have been noticing the handguard rails connect to the uppers. Like with the Kinghts Armory M-110. Not sure why this is important. On my AR15 I dont mount my scope to both the receiver and handguard.

I am getting the Fulton Armory upper, and will check out the Troy handguard.

My AP4 upper matched perfect with my Daniel Defense Lite Rail––-but I have the older, correct height upper

Why they changed, who knows the real reason...they might sell a few more OEM rails but certainly will sell fewer upper receivers.
