I have a newer DPMS AR-15. I bought it from a reliable sourse, but now when I shoot the weapon it jams every other round. Some times the round doesnt feed. Other times rounds will feed on top of each other. I have properly cleaned the weapon before I shot it, but there was no change. I cant see an obvious damage the bolt carrier, chamber, etc. I was wondering what could be some other possible cause. A friend a mine suggested that steel cases ammunition was to blame. Could that be true?

What are you using for mags?

Are you saying it is double feeding two live rounds at once?

Many jamming/feeding problems are mag related ... how many different mags have you tried?

I just have a couple plain aluminum 10 and 30 round magazines. They're in good condition too

Try some PMAGs.

Try different ammo.

Is the gun well lubed?

Are you loading a full 30 rounds in your mags?

All the double feeding and most jamming I have ever experienced was mag related. Could be the lips are spread out a little or the follower is tilting or hanging up.

One thing you can try is disassembling and cleaning your current mags and then try again ... or just order some new quality mags and see what happens.

I will try that. Yes, the gun was well lubed and I didn't load full magazines. I usually loaded around 15-20 rounds at a time
