Hi All...

Does DPMS make a good quality barrel. I have one that is about 8 years old. I got it at a going out of business sale, well, it and several other accessories. I gave $75.00 for the lot. It is in a cardboard tube, and appears to have never been installed. It is a heavy barrell profile. Thanks for any info...

Probably 4140 steel which is not as desireable as 4150 but you will never know the difference.
If it is chrome lined than it is probably a good barrel. Shoot it.

I agree with this except it is probably not chrome lined unless it was specifically ordered that way and it is probably a good barrel either way.  It is more than likely a very accurate barrel.  Chrome lining would make it easier to clean and would assist in corrosion resistance in the long term, but chrome is not a must for most of us.

I wouldn't complain about a $75 AR barrel + other stuff. I'd ream the chamber before shooting 5.56 in it though.

It's most likely a good barrel even if it isn't chrome lined.

I've had several DPMS rifles over the years and they have always shot well. Nothing wrong with their bbls at all.

DPMS is terrible.

Especially the .30 caliber barrels.

I'm sending mine back first thing tomorrow.

It is probably fine.
