Hello,
I am seriously considering purchasing a LR 308 DPMS. This will be my first AR-10 and I'm not too knowledgeable about them so I would appreciate any advice. One of my concerns with this rifle is the barrel is a 4140. I've read that a 4140 could create a problem with mulitple firings. Is this true and should I stay away from this or would I be okay. This will be my MBR.
Also, would I be better off if I built my own? If so, where do I buy the uppers/lowers, etc.?
Thanks for the help,
Joe

Building your own will actually cost you more ,but you can build it with what you want . Type of upper, lower ,bbl, hand guard ,those kind of things .
I don't see a problem with the bbl. material if kept clean & all bbl's have a service life.

Be careful using the AR 10 wording in the same sentence as DPMS,  we all know what you are referring to , others take offence to comparing the two ,even though they are both AR 308's.

Yeah, it's definitely cheaper to buy a complete one than to build. As fas as barrel wear goes, the one from DPMS will last many thousands of rounds.

The only thing wrong with the LR-308 is that it is heavy. Just buy a complete one.

Otherwise, I love it.

Pretty much. I did a fair amount of reading before I bought mine, and the overwhelming opinion is that they're great rifles.

Clean it after each outing and shoot good ammo and it will group just fine for you.
I've got a 16" HBAR free-floated and it's a 1/2 moa rifle...
