I have a DPMS AP4 - 308 and I'm wanting to install a harris bipod on it. I called the DPMS service tech and he is saying that I will need a harris #5 adapter stud and that I'm going to have to remove the handguard to put it on. The removal of the handguard looks like a big challenge to me. Has anyone taken one off before? It looks to be spring loaded, but not sure. I'm just gathering all the intel. I can so I don't have a royal screw up.
Any help will be appreciated.
Thanks,
Joe

I just bought a swivel/sling stud that had a fine pitch thread.  Drilled and tapped the hole, screwed in stud.  Much easier and quicker to me.  Cost was like $6 with shipping.

Use the fine threaded stud on the left in the pic. Drill and tap the tube.
