I am looking at the DPMS Flat Top either Lo-Pro or High Rider upper for a Prairie Dog rifle. Does the lack of a dust cover, brass deflector or forward assist cause any problems?
Thanx

Hasn't caused any problems that I'm aware of on any of the many AR15s and AR10s variants my gunsmith has built over the years and he has used plenty of them.

The foward assist feature is mostly for use on a "combat" rifle and normally if the round does not go into battery there's a reason for that and it's always best to remove that round and check it before proceeding.

Dust cover too is a feature more designed for "combat" and as the Pdogs ain't gonna be shooting back the low-pro and high-pro DPMS uppers are GTG generally for long range type civilian shooting, IMO.

Mike,
Thanx for the info. I guess the choice between Low Pro and Hi Pro is based on the size of the scope. You are right, If the P Dogs fire back I'm in trouble cause I will be shooting in MT where most folks are friendly.Don

This same question was just asked. Go low with taller rings if you need the height. It's much more flexible. Also, with the lo, you can use an extended rise to get your scope farther forward. It's a bit harder to use an extended riser on a Hi-rise.
