I recently purchased a 18" Panther and had feeding problems for the first couple hundred rounds, I have since worked that out by polishing and shooting the hell out of it, about 800rnds so far but I am still having trouble with the first 1-2 out of a full mag, I contacted Shane at DPMS and asked about a forward assist upper ($125 with my old as trade) so I am asking if anybody has this .308 upper and if they like the assist, it seems that the first or second gets caught on the feed ramp and just a bump or push on the bolt with my fingers and it goes so I am thinking a forward assist will fix or is it a waste of $$$ Thanks |

They seem to work well with 18 but when I have 20 in it's a real tight fit and usually fails to strip off, with 19 it's about 50/50 Really love the rifle it's damm accurate, easy to shoulder and fit/finish is super so if you have any suggestions please let me know as I don't plan on getting rid of this rifle. Maybe I can convince DPMS that I will be there test guy for mag's the first thing I would do is put a metal follower in and ditch the plastic one as I believe it may cause some drag compared to a metal one One Great thing about DPMS is that they always answer emails and phone calls and seem very willing to get feedback from customers and don't give you the bum's rush. |
+1 about the customer service... If you keep having issues best thing to do is pack the upper and send it into DPMS. They will square it away with some TLC and it will be fine. |
