i personally don't like holding onto a chunk of aluminum. the Clark and Briley carbon fiber FF tubes are only a few $ more than the DPMS, and lighter. then again i am biased against the aluminum tubes because anthing less than 60f degrees causes your hands to bet real cold. i shoot at < -0 f in the winter and the DPMS would be unbearable. just the opposite in the summer. put a few mags down the tube at 90f in the sun and see how warm the aluminum HG gets. i have had good luck with the armalite FF tube. it is fiberglass with aluminum reiforcing at both ends and can be indexed (3-piece design). it is heavier than the Clark or Briley, but they are 1 -piece. (IIRC they can all be had in the $90- $100 range). advntrjnky |

They aren't high-end, but they're acceptable (and inexpensive! ~$35 new). I've been using them (two, on different rifles) for 3gun and MultiGun for ~4 years now - no problems. They're simple: a barrel nut, and a tube. The tube threads onto the barrel nut. They're not indexable - but that's not an issue for me I don't know of anyone whose tube has rotated - when properly installed that wouldn't/shouldn't be an issue - mine have never rotated. Inexpensive, simple installation, functional - what more could you want? Good luck, ac |
