I have a complete RRA pistol lower and a complete CAR lower on order from RRA. WHen they get here i want to swap out the notched hammers for the rounded ones from DPMS. Can i remove the hammers and springs without having to remove anything else?

I am just trying to plan ahead so both lowers will be ready for 5.56 and 9mm use.

While it's good to look/review the tacked topics like those atop the "Build It Yourself" forum and the Information button above for how to accomplish your proposed task; you will have to remove the grip screw in order to remove the selector switch (fire/safe), then you can remove the FCG pins.

You can replace just the hammer and its spring by tapping out the pin.  NO problem.  Nothing else has to be removed.

Thanks everyone for your response. Now,,,,,,,,the long 4 month wait (august) till my complete RRA lowers show up  UGH!!!! Then i can change hammers and be able to change between 5.56 and 9mm without grooving the 9mm bolt.
