A friend of mine has offered me a takeoff 1/7 Colt H-Bar barrel for a very good price. I'm going to build a dedicated coyote upper around it and I'm looking at a DPMS High Rise match upper receiver to mount it on. Heard some complaints about DPMS rifles in general but I like the specs of this particular receiver. Anybody used one of these and, if so, got any info I should know?

Here is the part I'm talking about.

Could not get the link to work, brownells sight error message.  If it is the high rider you are talking about they are a bit odd looking in person.  Friend bought one during the panic and did not care for it.  Finally put it together with a Hogue tube and it looked alright and has since sold it.  I would just go with a standard receiver or a regular profile slab/slick side if you do not want the door or forward assist.

I'm not too into high rise uppers as they limit you a bit. If you like the slickside style brownells does have a regular height slickside DPMS upper for the same price. As far as stripped uppers are concerned DPMS is just fine. Some people have issues with DPMS' complete rifles, but I have a buddy that hasn't had any issues with his. That's the only DPMS that I've shot...

Yes, it is the high riser. You're right, I don't want a forward assist and the port cover I don't care either way. I can always leave off the cover itself. I figured using the high riser would allow me to eliminate using a riser block under the scope. Haven't decided on the scope yet but I'll probably use a 6x fixed power. What other slick side upper would you suggest.

Thanks.
