I don't know about the extractor and spring.

The clean "3 consecutive days" drill dates back to the times when corrosive primers were used in battle rifle ammo. The common use of surplus ammo from various corners of the world makes this a smart thing to do. Modern cleaning agents do not work on corrosive priming salts (corrosive salts are water soluble but are not soluble in petroleum solvents). You need to find some old military bore cleaner, or use hot water/soap, or windex with ammonia for cleaning. Just be sure to get all the water out of the crevices so it doesn't rust (this is the only acceptable time to use WD40 on a firearm -- to displace water, not to clean or lubricate).

My extractor is the same as yours.  Not retained at all in the extractor.  I've heard there's an upgraded extractor spring setup for these dpms 308's.  I'd like to know because I'm starting to develope extraction issues with my carbine.
