Basically looks to be the Sportical in .308. No forward assist or dust cover. 18" bull barrel.
Anyone have one? Feedback on this rifle would be greatly appreciated. |
| The 308B does have the dust cover and forward assist. I had to send my back to DPMS due to jamming and failure to extract issues. That and the gun printed horrible groups. They did fix that. It came with the JP adjustable trigger, which was not adjusted very good. I've got to work on that. I'm still working on loads for the gun. First time out, it didn't do very good. Then we found the scope had shot loose. So now, I'm loading ammo again for the ladder test. I hope to find a good load. It is showing promise. One load shot 6 shots in one ragged hole, the 4 outside the hole. That may be to the maladjusted trigger and I was getting pretty tired at the end of the day. It's fun to shoot. You can see mine here: 308B |

I believe that the 308B does not come standard with the forward assist and dust cover (although it is available as an option).
http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=4852&cat=1737 If you are looking at a Sporticle but want those upgrades, you may want to look at the "Oracle" model: http://www.dpmsinc.com/store/products/?prod=5728&cat=1940 I'm stuck right now between the AP4, the Oracle, and trying to find an upgraded 308B... |

Had considerable feeding, jamming and ejection problems with it. Part of the problem was defective DPMS magazines. The rest was an extremely tight action which was solved by hand cycling the bolt and carrier in the upper perhaps 1,000 times. With new mags it now feeds, cycles and ejects properly and is a tack driver. |

I've had one for several years. Mine has been totally reliable, accurate with good ammo and essentially trouble free.
Using my Reloads, a bipod and my mk 1 mod 1 shoulder, I get sub moa groups consistently. Using Federal Blue box (Cheap) 150 gr ammo it shoots right at 1". No complaints, no problems. It does not need a fwd assist nor a dust cover as I doubt that I'll ever wind up in the sandbox or shoot so much that a fwd assist is needed. (The largest amount of ammo I shot up at one sitting with no cleaning was 176 rds with little build up or crap in the action) Truth be told, if I'm ever in a situation that I need more rds than that, I will be praying for someone to be saying to me: "US Marines sir. We're here to get you out." IMHO, an excellent rifle, well worth the price. Roger |

I bought one back in 2008. Later in the year I had to sell it when we had news of our first child on the way. It shot federal GMM at 1/2" and black hills 168gr just shy of one inch.
With any DPMS rifle you have to include the prive of a new trigger with the rifle, it's just part of the deal if you want the best accuracy. In my old one I had a timney drop in. If it's any sign of how much I liked that rifle, I recently ordered a new one, but just a little different. I like the A3 uppers, and this time I'll have a 6-pos stock. I pick it up tomorrow. The RRA two stage trigger is already here. |

I, too, have one. It doesn't come with a FA or dust cover unless you want one. I didn't. Mine has been nothing but 100%. I did replace the trigger and that really propelled this rifle into a terrific, accurate shooter.
I'm going to have a muzzle comp installed on mine eventually, probably over the winter. I would have ordered one to begin with but the one I purchased was only one on hand at the time and I didn't want to wait any longer. I shoot mine with an Aimpoint ML2 red dot out to about 150 yards and with a scope beyond that. I also added a BUIS set up. Can't really go wrong for the bucks. I purchased C-Products mags for it, too. Nary a problem. Rome |
| I've got the 24" tube version. Same as most here say Trigger upgraded to JP adjustable and got three Magpul mags. Makes a three shot ragged hole at 100 when I do my part. Mine likes a heavier bullet like the 168 grain AMAX but will shoot 150s under an inch too. |
| I picked up my new one today and went to the range tonight. I forgot to bring some oil with me and man that thing was dry and rough! The trigger was actually suprisingly good for a DPMS one. I'll probably still replace it though with the RRA two stage since I already have it. Mine was so dry and rough the bolt could barely cycle. I had all kinds of jamming and had to single feed the thing. By the end of it I had about 40 rounds through it. Couldn't get it to feed and function like it should have, but I did get a start at breaking in the barrel and action. Now the rifle has been stripped, cleaned and oozing with oil. I expect the next trip to be much smoother. |
| I have an LR-308B with the JP trigger, cryo treated barrel, and 6 position stock. I love it. The only thing I wish I had done is get the Magpul stock upgrade. I am currently saving my pennys to get one. I did have a problem feeding my handloads at first, but have got it worked out now. It was operator error on setting the dies. This is the first automatic I have loaded for. We love shooting it. |

The rifles work and work good. We (me, partners and DSS) have over 8 in our battery and EVERY one of them has been trouble free.
I just did a write up on here about the rebadged Bushy 308 and once again its flawless and is MOA all day long. The gear queers can keep spending the dough, but these rifles are GTG. I had a sportical for a long while (dozens of kills with it PICS in the hog hunting forum here) and it was 110% reliable and very accurate. I would bet BIG money that for one DPMS problem you hear about on here there are thousands working flawlessly. |
