I stopped at my favorite store just for fun and happened to see they had some DPMS lowers with collapsible butt stocks for $280.  What's everyone's opinion of there fuctionality and performance?  May sound silly but I wondering if anyone had any problems with them being matched up to other manufacturers uppers?  I have very little expirence with the brand, I normally stick to Bushmaster and M&P.

For a completed DPMS lower with a 6 pos. collapsing stock, I think $280 is  overpriced. A DPMS lower receiver shouldn't go for more than $97-$120, and completed never more than $250.

And now apparently DPMS, Bushmaster, and Remington are all under the same house. In the past DPMS may have gotten a bum rep from the AR crowd but it doesn't seem to be the case so much these days, especially with the LR-308 owners' community. The majority of them seem to be satisfied with their rifles.

I was at the Indy 1500 gun and knife show this morning.  Picked up 2 stripped DPMS lowers for $99 each.  With tax it put me at $214 total.  They had plenty of the lower assemblies that you're describing marked at $199 ea.

List price on the complete DPMS assembled lowers is $276; but as pointed out in the other notes, DPMS stuff is often available at much lower than list prices.

to much IMHO, you would do better to get yourself a stripped lower, lpk and stock set. or watch the EE for venders haveing specials

As far as quality of the DPMS lowers, most of my AR's are built on DPMS lowers.  They fit and match well with uppers from J&T, RRA, LAR, and other uppers I've used.

I think I paid about $130, after the transfer fee, for all of my DPMS stripped lowers.

They are as good as any.

Thanks, I just happened to see them, I think I'm gonna go the build route with a Spike's lower and Bushy Telestock.  Don't know who's LPK I'm gonna put in it though.  Probably end up costing about the same but I'll get to play mix and match.

I have 6 DPMS lowers and 4 Spike's lowers.  While there is nothing wrong with the DPMS lowers, I'm sure you will be happy with the Spike's lower.  Spike's lowers rock!  My favorites (without spending an arm and a leg) are NDS for retro and Spike's for everything else.
