This thread got me thinking.

Just curious about the general concensious around here. Is it a good buy or not? Would a bushmaster serve me better?

The one I got looks great.  So far I have only used it to attach a collapsible stock but it looks and feels like a solid tool.

I'm building an A2 stripped upper now, just gotta order the barrel assembly from Bushmaster today. I might also do an M4 build later, so I want a quality tool that won't crap out on me after its first use.

A fellow team member used the tool from Brownells with the insert that replaces the bolt carrier to remove 3 barrels from uppers for shipping and threading for me. He had them removed and tagged in about 20 minutes. A very good tool to have.

Have they been on backorder, or do they make them when you order them? That sucks, I was hoping to have this project done by Christmas.

Maybe I can find a 20" govt. profile upper on the EE.

ETA: Found an unfired Colt govt. profile 1/7 20" barrel with threaded bbl and bayo lug for $200! w00t!

I have used a DPMS wrench on all mine... and so far it has served well for the money.

I did find that when I installed a Larue barrel nut, my DPMS wrench would not work, the pins are out of spec on my wrench.  I have the specific YHM wrench, and it worked perfectly.

For a cheap general purpose wrench, I think the DPMS is great.

My DPMS wrench broke too.  After a bit of bad publicity here on the board, they replaced it for free.

I still need to buy one!
