Then you need a "I just want to see the results" choice.

I'm not sure if I qualify but I own a CMMG/DPMS...not the standard DPMS.  Mine has the 1:7 twist, chrome-lined 4150 barrel with the M4 feed ramps.  Mine has been flawless BUT I'm running a Colt bolt & carrier instead of a DPMS.  I've also used DPMS lower parts kits on several other builds and they have all been great to install and haven't had any breaks or failures.

I have had no problems with my 16" DPMS with approx. 1000 rounds through it. Just had a BM Izzy brake installed. I bulit a 20" on a DPMS lower and that also works great.

I had problems with my DPMS M4 upper. It had a .223 chamber and would choke on XM193. Reamed the chamber to 5.56 specs and it ran OK. Had a very purple delta ring.

I had a DPMS Sweet 16- it was very sweet the best group I got with it was about 5/8", rounds 40-45 during barrel break in, I think that one was 50 gr Win Supreme ballistis silvertip. Never had any problems with it. A few prairie dogs and coyotes didn't like it very much. I got bored and sold it, but I'm starting my next one with a DPMS stripped lower. I ran a few hundred rounds of WOLF ammo through it, felt bad about it, but the rifle didn't seem to mind. Their service was great when I ordered it too.

I have owned several and have now gotten into the sick disease of building them.  I have never had any problems, and have seen them compete with my bolt guns for accuracy.

I have a DPMS Panther 16 and, after about 6k rounds, the darn thing finally decided to break - had to replace hammer and trigger pins.

Let me see, 6k rounds, one breakage, cost - $14.  No other problems with the rifle at all.  IMNHO, DPMS is a good 'value' gun.  Maybe not as well put together as a Armalite or Bushmaster, but gets the job done.

I have a DPMS Panther 16" that I use in 3-gun matches and I don't have anything to complain about.  It has performed without problems.  I have been using this gun for about 2 years now.

Fit and finish on par with Colt and FN milspec offerings (and I've carried, shot, cleaned, inventoried, guarded and maintained a few hundred over the past 25 years, so I know).  Whenever I pull the trigger it goes 'Bang!' and puts all the rounds into small spaces on the target with alarming regularity.  I like mine!

I can tell you this, I would never recommend them to anyone

ETA:  I wouldnt take one if you gave it to me for free either

I assembled my first lower on a DPMS forged one.  To be honest, I had never dealt with the AR that much and it was a 20 minute deal that I really enjoyed.  Previousely I had a Bushmaster lower and the fit was great but the DPMS looked just as good.

Just my 2 cents worth.

I have had a preban (now thankfully converted) 16" heavy barrel, 1:9 ROT non-chromed lined unit for about six months.  Its accuracy and functional reliability are as good as anything else I've seen -- and that's quite a bit.  I use it to showcase some other manufacturer's components and I've got total faith in this weapon.

That just makes you stupid.  You could always turn around and sell it to someone if you didn't like it.  Who would turn down a free AR??

I have half of one sitting in my gun room right now. It started out as their version of the Oly "Plinker", 16" barrel (which was really 14.5" plus the Miculek, Mikilcelek, whatever the fuck it is) compensator, A1 sights (sucked), Cheapass Buttstock (maybe the M16's I carried in the Corps spoiled me when it came to furniture? And they were beat to shit, but they were solid, AND had a metal trapdoor in the butt, not plastic), chrome bolt carrier.

All I've got left is the lower with internals. Threw a collapsible stock I had laying around on it. Its a cheap one, I think, but not nearly as cheap as the stock that came with it. I'm saving up some $$$ for a RRA mid-length no-ban upper.

Anyway, when it was all together and all DPMS, I didnt have any kind of problems with it. Not entirely sure I'd buy a new one from the factory but then, I'm not sure I'd buy ANY more new from the factory rifles ever since I discovered places like AR15.com, FALFiles.com, AKFiles.com, etc. I'm thinking from now on I'll just build what I want, how I want it.

I don't think that DPMS has the best quality out there, you can find much better

h
. I traded a Mini 14 for it plus $100. Think i did pretty well. Its the perfect "knock around" gun, if your the type that can carry one for preditior control their great. durable, affordable and reliable with little up keep.

I voted "Just as good as any other AR" but mine isn't all DPMS.  I have a DPMS lower built with RRA LPK and a CMMG upper.  The DPMS lower had a great finish and all the parts fit in perfect and I think CMMG uses DPMS upper recievers.

Not as good but cheaper. I had a DPMS upper.

I love my CMMG upper... the upper receiver itself is DPMS, I don't know about any of the other parts. I have a Colt M16 BCG in it though.
