220 rounds of shooting and cleaning, and my groups are starting to shrink. After about 150 rounds of PPU 168 Match (about 1.25 - 1.5 MOA in this gun) bought some Georgia Arms 168 and 175 Match and started shooting 5 round groups. The 168's have been consistently around 1 moa, the 175's around 1.25 moa. Today I started with 5 rounds of the PPU from a clean barrel, grouped around 3" at 220 yards. The next five were the GA 175's, right at 2 1/4" at 220 yards. The next two groups were GA 168's, the first five shot group was 1", the second group was 1 1/2"at 220 yards. Some people say their rifles were shooters out of the box, others say after about 200 rounds. I read where one guy stated, maybe here on arfcom, that he started seeing his best accuracy at around 400 rounds. After hearing people brag about how accuracte their SASS is, I honestly wasn't too impressed with it until this afternoon. Now I'm starting to feel a lot better about the purchase. Hopefully today wasn't a fluke and I get similar results next time out.

| My experience with the PPU stuff has been mixed. There's quite a bit of inconsistency in that ammo. If you want to test consistency... some of the best factory ammo u can buy is the Hornady 168 or the FGGM 168. Both of those have never failed to shoot remarkably in any of my precision rifles. |

Lapped barrels may shoot great out of the box and other may need 100+ rounds to settle in. My NoveskeN6 was fine from the first round but I have several bolt guns that took several trips to the range to get what I was looking for accuracy wise. Sounds like yours is coming around. Good shooting |
| I had terrible results with the PPU 168's including some popped primers and pressure signs out of my AR-10. OAL was all over the place with some rounds showing the cannelure, and some not. 2.782 - 2.794. I am going to blast the rest of the stuff out of an old 308 rifle and I picked up some Federal Gold Medal Match for my accuracy testing. $20 a box at Palmetto. |

I've had my SASS for about 4 years now. I just had a paladin machine adjustable gas block installed and an AAC 51T brake. I took it out to re-zero it and try out my new chronograph on Monday.
I was happy to discover that the rifle was still zeroed, except about 1/2" low at 100 yards. With a gusty 10MPH tail wind my 5 shot group measured just under 0.7" using Federal 150 grain power shok ammo. The average velocity was 2660FPS with an extreme spread of 40FPS. I can typically get 5 shot groups under an inch using this factory ammo. I haven't tried any match or hand loaded ammo recently. |

load your own , for a 300$ ivestment you can make 2$ match 308 ammo for about 60 cents each. Probably good advice, but I don't have enough free time and I'm lazy.
The 1000 rounds of Hornady 178 grain superformance certainly wasn't cheap. I'll save the shells in case I change my mind in the future. |

I'm saving my brass, going to look at a single stage press here in the next year or so. Any recommendations on presses and dies? There's so much stuff out there now it's a little confusing determining what you need and what's a gimmick. we have a reloading forum , all the answers are there. http://www.ar15.com/forums/forum.html?b=6&f=42 |
