UPDATE and pic on last post.*******

Anyone have experience good or bad with the DPMS Sporticale rifle?

I have been offered a trade for my Savage 10FCP bolt action .308 precision rifle (worth about $1000 with scope), for one of these DPMS rifles in new condition.

my main concern about the DPMS is the slick sided upper which lacks a forward assist and dust cover.  Since I am not a LEO nor do I plan on spending any time in the sand box, I don't necessarily know how or if these two things would even affect me.

The trade also includes an A2 carrying handle with picatanny rail, and a Machtec BUIS rear sight.  UTG A2 style front sight.

I want another AR after I had to sell my Smith and Wesson MP15 a few years back but is this a good deal?

I would really like to hear reviews....good and/or bad about the DMPS 556 Sportical.

Thanks guys

It's a close to the bottom end strippo Ar  and certianly not a fair trade if your rifle and optics are worth a $ 1000

I payed  $ 685.00 for my DPMS sport tactical carbine 5.56
great rifle...but your 308 rifle is worth more.

I have a DPMS Sportical 7.62 NATO and a Remington 700SPS in .308 if that answers your question. Don't get me wrong my DPMS is my go to for short to mid range. But if I want to make long distance contact you can't beat a bolt gun. BTW I also have a CMMG M4LE.

I just sold an unfired Sportical for $600.  You would be getting screwed on that trade.

I bought my 5.56 sportical during the Obama craze...for a net $500 from my local branch of a national SG retailer. Actually, it was $650 but I got a $150 cash card because they were celebrating coming out of bankruptcy (now everyone knows were I got it).

It's fine for what it is, but it's not exactly a precision long-range rifle, knowhattamean?

Cool....

That is kind of what I thought anyway.  Just wanted confirmation.

I will stick with my Bolt Gun.

Maybe if it was a little higher end AR I wouldn't even need to ask but after reading you guys' posts my mind is made.

Glad I came here and asked.  This forum is a wealth of knowledge.

I passed on the DPMS trade.  Soon after I received another trade offer which netted me a barely fired Bushmaster M4 A3 Texas DPS model.  Came with Quad rail, see through scope mount, extra mags, and a little 4-8x32 scope.

All and all I am quite happy and feel that I got a very fair trade for my Savage.  Thanks again for the good advice.  Now for some quick gun porn.

As much as I like & stickup for DPMS, It's not worth anywhere near that type of trade. Glad you passed.

Yeah, I wouldn't have made either of those trades. That dpms looks like someone went full retard at the UTG tables at a gun show.

I believe that's the Bushmaster he traded for.

Yeah....it is the Bushmaster that I traded for.  I actually like the extended quad rail.  The tri rail scope mount.....not so much.  It serves the purpose though until I can afford my EoTech and BUIS.  Then I will just take the carrying handle off and mount the optic to the flat top.

I wanted an AR, and for $1000 (Value) I feel that this Bushy was well worth it.  I looked up the gun and it costs $900 new add sales tax and I am already over $1000.  Plus all the extras....I liked the deal.

I like the UTG table stab though.........but honestly the rail feels solid as rock.  I wouldn't have bought UTG myself, but can't see a reason to replace it at this time.

Eww.  Please take off that scope mount.  Otherwise, nice boomstick.

lol......it is a little gaudy.

For now I need it though if I want irons and an optic.  Don't have the loot yet for the BUIS and optic that I want, so for now I need the carrying handle on.  But you better beleive once I have about $500 to spare it is coming off and being replaced with an Eotech512 and ARMS #2 BUIS
