I just ordered a DPMS .204 Ruger upper for an AR lower receiver I have. I also have a Bushnell 4200 6-24x50 I'm going to be mounting on it. I have the scope in hand and am considering eye relief. Was wondering if anyone that has a similar setup could comment on whether they recommend an extended scope base as opposed to just using rings on the flat top.

Anyone with any experience? Thanks for the help!

you will need either a raised sight base or rail depending on your scope and its overall length and objective diameter, i got one with a 40mm objective and it works ok with tall weaver scope rings. gives it about 3/8" above the handgaurd. of course too you may or may not want it higher depending on personal preference,  if it had a larger objective you may need to go with something that would put it higher to clear the handgaurd.

Burris XTR xtra-high rings will clear the objective. For eye relief you'll end up with the front ring ALL the way forward on the upper, yes, you may need an offset mount like the Larue SPR.
