I asked in the Build It Yourself section but got no response so I thought that I'd try here. Is there a tutorial for the assembly of a DPMS .308 lower? Is there much difference between the 5.56/.223 and the .308 lowers and their associated parts kits? I'm thinking of doing my own build and I've done numerous ar15's just not .308's. Thanks |

If you've ever build an AR15, you'll love building a DPMS/Fulton Lower. The trigger guard is machined into the frame, no roll pin to tap in, the fcg is the same, the bolt catch is a very long headless allen screw, the front take down pin has a hole to insert the spring and brass pin, then you just hold it with a allen key and push the take down pin in, the rear take down pin and safety are under the pistol grip, which proved to be about a min of irritation keeping the springs strait and not let them bind under the pistol grip, while tightening the screw to hold the grip... it's that easy, seriously I ate a hot pocket and put it together on the bed, eating a hot pocket, easiest build I ever did. Then there was the 7 month wait for the upper reciever, and the return of the upper reciever and the rereturn of the upper reciever... now I'm sitting in Iraq and the full rifle is in the safe as I count down 330 more days. |

+1 what KC-97TA said [ hooah! thanks for your service to our country, KC]. I started a DPMS-based build about a month ago: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=3&f=121&t=395072&page=1 |
| Only three parts are different on the LR308. I ordered mine from MidWayUSA. Pivot pin, Takedown pin, and Bolt Catch screw. One other thing to note is that the magazine catch screw does not go flush to the outside of the magazine catch button. |
