Has anyone else been having problems getting any parts for the 308LR?   I ordered a firing pin and six gas rings for spare parts - along with two mags and a A4 type upper receiver,  I understand the wait for the mags and the upper - but I have been waiting for the pin and gas rings for over 10 weeks now.  I called them four weeks ago and asked what was going on,  the guy said he would get right on it and send them out.   I would understand if he said the parts were back ordered and they have a huge back log to fill first.   I really like the rifle - it has done nothing but work,  All I do is feed it - but it is kinda worthless if you can't get any parts for it.  Lets face it - everything does and will break or wear out and I shoot the piss out of it.  I just want a straight answer or any answer would be nice instead of the same ol' three weeks crap.  End rant!

I just recieved my DPMS 308 LR a few weeks ago.  I had a few custom upgrades added (black teflon coat on the barrel, flutted barrel, railed gas block) and was told that it would be 8 to 10 weeks for delivery.  I think it was right at 9.5 weeks when I got the call that it was in.  I have not ordered any parts from them as yet, as the new rifles come with 2 of the new 20 rnd steel mags(made by DPMS??).

I deal with Joe Carlson(hope that is spelled correctly) when I call.  1-800-578-3767.  He was always upfront with me and did not B.S.  He is also very helpful on any questions for this rifle.

Note:  I did not order the trigger upgrade with this rifle.  However, after the first outing I was on the phone to JP Enterprises and ordered their complete trigger kit (with the utralight hammer) as John(with jp) told me, the complete sets are matched by hand before they are packaged.  I installed the trigger and followed the recommended settings and did not have to file/grind any parts.  The safety install did require some grinding, but was easily done by following the instructions on the CD.  I talked with Joe Carlson(DPMS) about this and he said there could be some issues with the ultralight hammer and some brands of surplus ammo.  However, I do not intend to shoot surplus in this rifle, so he said it should be fine.  Also, make sure you tell JP that you have a .308 and they send you the "extra power" hammer spring, or you rifle could "double".  I also in stalled the JP tension pin.  The have one for the .308 now.  Upper and lower are now locked together as if they were one piece.

I'll have to talk to Joe.     Thanks for the info.   I have the RRA 2-stage trigger in mine,it now matches my other AR's.  I don't shoot any surp ammo either so I haven't had any issues with light primer strikes.   I have the habit of stocking up on the parts I think will wear out the fastest.  I have a good stock of parts for my AR15's and would just like to have some on hand for this 308.  I am almost ready to buy one complete rifle for parts but then I would have a hard time robbing parts from one to fix the other.  having another rifle sounds good - you can't have too many.

I spoke to a couple guys at DPMS about triggers and they told me they just use the regular JP trigger in their LR...I bought a JP trigger, but I have not installed it yet...great rifle.

Went shooting Saturday.  New trigger worked great!  Many "1 hole groups" at 50 yards (yes 50 yards, I have been away from shooting for a long time, and when I can consistently get one hole groups at 50, then I will move out to 100, and so on).  Still getting used to the rifle.

I did notice that my brass is hitting the side of the upper, once it ejects.  There are little "dings" that the brass has left in the black coating.  This rifle does not have a brass deflector, so I wonder if this is normal?  There are no function problems and the brass lands in a consistent pile at 5 "o" and approx. 4 ft away.

Got to do something, it will eventually wear down to the aluminum.  I will give DPMS a call tomorrow.
