I recently picked up a DPMS 16" flattop carbine. I'm wanting to put a removable carry handle on it, since it did not come with any rear sights.

I have read that Bushmaster and some other manufacturers use A2 rifle FSB's on their flattops, rather than the proper "F" size FSB's. I've also read that some manufacturers use "F" size FSB's, but the FSB itself is not marked as such. This affects rear sight choices, obviously.

Does anybody know for certain which FSB DPMS uses? I'm *hoping* that they use "F" size FSB's, as it would allow the use of an aftermarket rear sight without replacing the front sight post with a longer one.

Thanks!

They (DPMS) use a rifle FSB not the F marked one. I have the same rifle as you and have the DPMS factory removeable carry handle and it works fine. Make sure you sight it in properly adjusting the front sight post for elevation. If you run out of elevation someone sells a taller front sight post for this problem! Good luck!

Well, I have a Bushmaster removable carry handle collecting dust in my closet, since I put a red dot on my old Bushmaster.

Since Bushmaster uses rifle FSB's too, I'll slap it on the DPMS, go to the range and see if it works ok.

Thanks guys!

Let us know if it works Grant.  I have been meaning to get a flip down rear sight for my LR308AP4 in case I ever need to take the scope off.  While I know mine is a 308 it would be nice to know yours works or not.
