I had heard that they were heavy, but DAMN! I can't decide whether I should build something with it or just use it to pound in fence posts. It's also VERY tight on my lower and will need a little work to fit right. I originally intended to build a .458 SOCOM with it, but Red Jacket bought up all the barrels. 
Has anyone used one of their uppers? |
I have used both the Hi-Pro and Lo-Pro uppers with no fit problems whatsover. Are you upset by the fact that the extruded, thick-walled DPMS slick-sider uppers are 2 oz heavier than a GI forged flattop? IMHO not an issue. Here are some I have built. No issues whatsoever.

| That makes them 4 ounces heavier than a forged upper without the forward assist. |

I really like your side-charging setup. Did you do that yourself or have someone else do it? Is that a plug where the traditional charging handle goes? |

Drilled a series of closely spaced holes, then milled the final slot with a 5/16 end mill. Chucked the upper in my slide vise to finish the cut. I cut and shaped a plug for the charging handle out of a chunk of aluminum. It's held in place with a small countersunk screw installed from above. |
