Finally posting pics of my mid length that I got a little while back:
This one is going to be a KISS setup, the only things I plan to add are a 1-4x scope and maybe a bipod... This one is still waiting for parts, planning to do a 14.5 build with mostly YHM goodies

My new build, a lightweight, "hunting", AR-15. Back during the crazy days after the election I bought a matched upper and lower from Red River Tactical. I like the fact that it was made in Texas, and it has a cool logo.
The last piece of the puzzle showed up today and I finally got it all together. * RRT upper & lower * DSA midlength barrel, 1:9, fluted and nitrided * 11 inch Viking VTAC Extreme Battlerail handguard * ACE Skeleton stock * Larue "Texas Spec" bolt carrier group * Larue gas block * Larue SPR scope mount * Weaver 1.5-4.5x Classic Extreme scope, 30mm, illuminated reticle * Lower parts kit, and other small parts from BCM. * The trigger has been treated to a Bill Springfield trigger job.

 Thanks. I wish I could take credit for the assembly of the rifle, my wife actually did it while she was bored one day. So I felt I needed to do something to make it mine. I used Aervoe .mil paint (same paint as the jeep it is sitting on) Sand, Dark Forrest Green and Olive Drab. Otherwise, With both Magpul and Larue that close together, the arfcool ratio would go to infinity, and the whole thing would go supercritical, with all life as we know it stopping instantaneously and every molecule in his weapon exploding at the speed of light. I'm glad to see the DSA Nitrided uppers performing so well. I have one on a Stag lower. It's rock solid, and it looks great, but I haven't had a chance to try it out yet. How about some function reports? This string started in 2009. Lots of good pics. This is the makings of a good data base about the the DSA uppers. How about those who posted pics reporting on rounds fired and functioning of these uppers?

UPS says the two I just ordered will be here tomorrow. 1,200 rounds later (mostly steel - Tula/Herter's/Silver Bear)...no major problems. Got my upper this Jan. The $275 ZM4/Nitrided upper. Running it with an auto BCG from BCM and a Spike's ST-T2. I'm happy with it. Hope your upper works well too. |

I have never had any sort of failure through my DSA 16" nonchromed M4 upper. Over 1500 rounds centerfire, a few thousand through the ciener adapter. Its not the most accurate upper I have or have ever shot, but its not bad. With ammo it likes ( AE 55gn ) it will hold 3MOA or so at 100yards, 5MOA or so with tula and wolf. It does seem to have opened up just a bit from when it was new with the wolf, but it functions fine. And I am not using the most precise rear site, its a magpul MBUS. |

Here's my contribution. The barrel, upper receiver and receiver extension assembly are DSA.
So far, about 260 rounds (including 20 rounds of Tula, and a couple mag dumps...) Absolutely no issues with the barrel. It's plenty accurate for me. Consistently shoots 2-3 MOA with bulk ammo and irons - and I'm not the greatest shooter by any stretch. 
And a more recent picture with carry handle sight and better handguards. Will be putting another 100 or so through it sometime next week.

Nothing crazy. 100% DSA build(other than the magpul furniture) w/mid-length fluted and nitrided barrel. Several hundred rounds through it, mostly Tulammo, with some AE 55gr fmj and a couple mags of ATI SS109. Fit, finish and function are 100% so far. Kinda early to give it the unequivocal thumbs-up on long-term reliability, but I'm satisfied at this point. |
These are my 20" 1/7 and my midlength 1/9, both nitrided and have Surplus Ammo and arms lowers, various magpul parts and DPMS LPK. The 20" has an ATN scope for now and an ARMS40 rear sight and Ergo buttstock. The Midlength has a LMT rear sight and a Vortex SPARC Dave |
