Building my first AR, and I'd like some feedback on this particular upper. Anyone use them? I'm on a tight budget, and these prices are about as low as I've found. Good reason for that?

DSA ZM4 A3 Upper Receiver With 16" Barrel, Mid-Length HG

They are 1:9 twist 4140 Nitride treated fluted 16" with M4 feed ramps.

The Nitride treatment increases the RC to 60, the barrel nut and the gas bloack are also Nitrided. Nitride has proven to enhance bore life to 20,000-30,000 rounds in belt feed machine gun barrel tests. This treat has been used by SIG for years in the 550 rifle. It is also the Glock and S&W finish. The fluting takes this medium contour barrel to the weight of an M4 barrel. Accuracy seen has been .75 - 1.25 MOA.

Thanks

i have a very "low-milage" midlength DSA upper [too damn cold],,i also have several of the nitrided carbine uppers. my opinion is these uppersare the best buy out there now, and all the reports from other owners basically say the same thing, accurate, dependable. buy one with confidence, also DSA has an excellent reputation as a high quality, company, so, should somehow any problems arise, they will take care of you. the only complaint i've seen about these uppers, is the handguards, but i immediately put a d.d. omega on mine,, so no problemo.

That is a fantastic price. Any 1/7 barrels planned?

Ohh... 1/7?

Not a deal breaker, but I would so much prefer that over 1/9.... Can you meet us in tehj middle with a 1/8 maybe?

Great upper.  I personally shoot 55 and 62 gr, so I have no need for 1/7––-but it's considered an absolute must on arfcom

And yes, girl on the phone doesn't seem to have her stuff straight.  I can forgive that for a $300 middy!

Are the finish on these fairly dark (ie black) looking to finish a Charles Daly lower build and this seems like a good way to go, but it would be nice to have a somewhat matching rifle for a change!

As you can see in Lumins first pick they have a slight gloss, but mine was very black.

I'm finding these people really difficult to deal with. I called and ordered an upper which was confirmed in stock. 3 days later my card was charged. I called back and ask about the shipping info and was told it was back ordered for at least 3 weeks. I asked the woman if I could upgrade to another model and was put on hold for 15 minutes. I sent an email on Thursday asking the same question and have yet to receive a response. Very frustrating.

That is their pattern. Lie about delivery time. Charge your card then take months to send it. They will never answer your emails. You have to keep calling. They are shady that way. Very deceptive and their customer service sucks balls.

That sucks and I would be pissed too.  I always believe that customer service and honesty are the most important things to judge a company on.

However, when I ordered my nitrided middy from them I got an email from one of their customer service people within two days confirming that my order had just shipped.  The upper is fantastic (with the exception of the short front sight base). My experience was great.  I guess they aren't very consistent with the customer service, but based on my own experience I'd order from them again.

I think I may NEED one of these DS Arms uppers.  I have been fighting the feeling.  I have bought/put together 5 uppers/rifles since the DSA deal came along.

I was told to call first thing in the morning by one of their reps.  It meant waking up at 4:30 for me, but it was always well worth it.  Love my middy, and I am trying to talk myself into picking up their fluted 20" upper that will be out in a few weeks.
