****WARNING****  NEWBIE QUESTION

Has anybody had any experience with Dura-Coat finishes? I'm interested in painting a rifle, and I want to know about pros' / cons'

Thanks in advance!

I've had two experiences with duracoat, but only on two seperate pistols.  One was a XD40, and the duracoat finish on it was tough, and easy to clean.  It was a titanium with a matte finish.  The other was a XD9 and the finish on it was peeling, easy to scratch, and not very good.  This was a titanium with a glossy finish.  Both were done by the same company, and both were cured for equal amounts of time.

I guess the duracoat finish for me was inconsistant, and I'm not sure that I would do it again.  Maybe others can give you a more positive feedback on the product.  Hope this helps.

Ive had great luck with my rifle(done for about 2 years now) its easy to reapply if it does come off too. Airbrushes allow for easy touch up,

Check out the refinishing forum under the armory button. Lots of info on it htere

I had Denny Duracoat a stainless steel barrel.  It has held up very well.

I duracoated my Para Ord. Warthog combat green and combat black. I carry it just vabout every day. Its been about 6 months and still looks really good.Dura coat also makes moving parts slicker too.ou just have to do really good prep. work. I sand blasted all my parts with 120 grit almn. oxide and degreased everthing really good.Make sure you use a good airbrush and use light coats.
