What type of flashlights do you have daily carry? Reason I ask is I am looking at getting a specific light for carry. I don't want a light on my CCW pistol, no need to draw everytime I want to illuminate something....

My EDC (EveryDay Carry) light(s) are an L2 or more recently an L1, and a Titan on my key fob. I'm really impressed with the new (current) L1. The L2 has been my EDC for what seems like years (ever since I got one and it replaced my A2) and for the lower output, less "wall of light" L1 to replace it, at least some of the time surprised me. I think what SureFire can do with the lumens using the TIR optic is one of the things that sets them apart from the crowd. People seem surprised by the low output rating SureFire gives their new L1, E1L and E2L and I think that is partly due to the over-inflated numbers given by other brands but importantly due to how well SureFire makes use of the light in terms of the beams they design. My EDC's - the A2, L2 and now L1 all share SureFire's two-stage pressure switch which I find the most useful "UI" (user interface) for everyday carry. The ease at which I can transition from low to high output as needed and the general speed of use since I don't have to LockOut the two-stage switch like I do a Clickie or standard momentary switch are important UI characteristics I value. Does this help explain my choice of EDC flashlight? Al |

Thanks for the input I see a pattern with Surefire, not that I'd expect anything else since they make really nice lights.... I was looking at getting another E2D, I gave mine to the Mrs, or a 6P Defender. I like the thought of having a strike bezel for the sake of force continuum. I wished that Pentagon had a strike bezel option, they make some nice lights as well |

Surefire L4. I will NEVER AGAIN use the multiple output systems. When you have the knob adjusted so you can activate the bright setting, it is too easy to activate the secondary light setting. You won't know it, but everyone can see you. Learned that one in FoF training. I like to carry on a belt pouch. Have to remove the lanyard ring to do that well, if your light has one. Carried one for a while with the clip. Lost my A2 that way. |

Fenix P1D, but I've been thinking about upgrading to one of these. Features: • Utilizes a Cree 7090 XR-E LED with a life of 50,000 hours • 5 Output Levels: 96 lumens (2.8hrs) -> 180 lumens (1hrs) -> 16 lumens (21hrs) -> Strobe -> SOS • Digitally Regulated for Constant Brightness • Uses one CR123A battery (not included) • 7.1cm (L) x 2.1cm (D) ( or 2.8 in (L) x 0.8 in (D) ) • Made of aircraft grade aluminum • Durable Type III hard anodized finish • 27-gram (or 1.0 oz) weight (excluding batteries) • Water-resistant (dunkable) • Toughened ultra clear glass lens with AR coating • Reliable twist switch • Capable of standing up securely on a flat surface to serve as a candle • Battery not included • Includes a holster, a lobster claw, and a spare o-ring |
I found a INOVA during CHARLIE it has 5 led lights it aint to bad uses 2 -123 batts My E1e is brighter! like to try out the T1 INova |
|
Sounds like you had a X5. I have a few of those but they are a little dated. Almost too bright for secondary light and not near as bright as most newer lights. The T1 I have is a luxeon LED I think. I got it and a T3 for free so I am trying them out. I really like the size of the T1 I think I will have it for a while. Next light will probably be a fenix. |

I carry a Surefire C2 in my back pocket, and an ARC aaa led in my front pocket. The C2 with it's pocket clip stays put well, and is easy to access. Also, the type III finish is definately tougher than the type II on the standard 6P. Together with a LED module (Wolf at the moment), it's just about perfect for my serious lighting needs. Plus, LED upgrade modules for lights using the 6P bulb (P60/P61) just keeping getting better, allowing a great (relatively) cheap upgrade path as the technology improves. A lot of future versitility there if you decide you want it. The ARC complements the C2 well, as it just about disappears in my pocket, yet gives pretty much the perfect illumination level for mundane tasks (reading a map, checking on my kids, etc.). To me, it's also just plain nice to have two lights instead of one. Can't explain it exactly, but it is. For instance, there's been several times when friends/family have needed a light for a few minutes to accomplish whatever. With two, I can give one up for a little while and still have my own. Just something to consider. In the past, I've also carried a Surefire E2E and A2. These are both great lights as well. The A2 with it's dual illumination is in particular a very versitle light. However, it does come with quite the price tag, and uses a different bulb than the 6P series or the E2 series, if stocking all kinds of extra spares matters. At the moment, I like having to only keep a few P60 bulbs around as spares for my G2s and my C2. It simplifies things. Lastly, the new L1 is simply amazing, especially considering it uses only *one* cr123 battery. I got one for my wife (she wanted something small but potent to fit in her purse), and just couldn't believe the light output on high. Plus, the low setting (it has a dual stage switch just like the L2) is very handy. If you want just one light for everything, I'd highly recommend this light. Contact Calvin at brightflashlights. He can hook you up with a good price. Sorry, that may be more information than you really wanted. I'll shut up now... |
what's a plain old defender? |

Arc AAA Premium Edition on my keychain. Good brightness, long battery life, durable. www.arcflashlight.com/arc-aaa.shtml |
| I carry an Insight Typhoon on my duty belt along with a Surefire 8X. For CCW, I carry the Typhoon, or a 6Z. It should be noted also that I carry a XD-45 w/ X200 as my CCW gun with a handheld light as a supplement. Having a light on my gun is something that I've had going on for about 5 years. |
I carry either a T1 or T3 depending on what I'll be doing that day. The Inovas are extremely well made and I've gotten lots of hard use from mine. |
Absolutely TEH AWESOME
