Hello everyone, I recently purchased a complete upper assembly for my new build and noticed that the handguard don't look normal. Can someone tell me if this handguard was over torqued and damaged?

I can only see the first picture, the others are locked.
It looks like your hand guard is not aligned rotation wise with the upper, at the least. Is it straight length wise? Use a straight edge on all four sides of the rail to make sure it's straight. It may simply be that the barrel nut was tightened without aligning the top rail to the upper rail. Good Luck! |

Quoted: Sorry I didn't turn on sharing on the other 3 pictures. It does look slightly off to the right look from the rear of the receiver. May be about 1/16". Hopefully they'll email me back soon about this. Yeah no, they done gone and screwed up on that one. There's no way that should have left their shop like that. The should be paying for shipping back to them and back to you IMHO. That's really shoddy QC/QA. |

It is damaged, look at the anti-rotation tabs. http://i67.tinypic.com/2ro0vo5.jpg I would be sending it back. Quoted:

not damaged, whoever installed it is a dolt. It's obvious it's not lined up correctly. Shouldn't have left the bench and been sold to you like that. They tried to twist the handguard until it aligned and ruined it in the process. |

Didn't see those pics because I posted before the OP unlocked them. |

I had one that cracked like that due to over torquing the handguard clamping screws. It was after 10+ times of removing and re-installing. Needed to be that tight or it would slip though. A wrap of shim would have been enough to keep it tight without collapsing the clamp so far as to break the tabs. Not an ideal fix though.
ETA: on mine the tabs on both sides were pulled the same direction. It wasn't that the barrel nut was missaligned, just that the handguard had to be over tightened. Too much tolerance between the handguard and the barrel nut. |
| Is that a real MI rail ? There are a lot of fake Chinese MI rails hitting the web lately. That same model you have pictured is all over ebay some are even listed as genuine MI. The reason I ask is because the problems you pictured match some some of the complaints and reviews I have read about the counterfeit models. Does a QD sling fit properly on the qd sockets ? Are the Keymod slots undercut ? Just by the pictures it looks like a fake, I hope I am wrong. |

Quoted: Still waiting for a response. Almost been 48 hours since I emailed them. They said they usually reply within 48 hours. If they dont I will try calling and if that doesnt go through I'll have to get the creditcard company involved. Do yourself a favor, don't return and replace it. Return it and get your money back. |

What company/person did that crap ? ![]() It was Doasales.net Talked to the owner yesterday and he had me emailed him pictures and he will get back with me with a solution. I think whoever assembled this was just rushed. I'm willing to give them a chance to make it right. Btw, for the price I got this upper for i highly doubt that is the real MI SSK keymod handguard haha. It does have keymod cut at the bottom and feels very smooth. |

Keep us updated on how they handle it So far they have not been very responsive in communicating with me. After the only phone conversation I had not hear back from them as promised. My patience is wearing thin trying to deal with this company. Tried to call them multiple time today and get voice mail everytime. If I cant talk to a live person there by tomorrow afternoon I might have to get my cc issuer involved. |

This would be the route I'd go. More than likely, they'll just replace it with another knock-off part (I don't believe that's a real MI rail). I'd return it, and be done with that vendor. |

| Soo in worst case scenario they wont do anything about it and is it safe to use? The handguard feel very solid and doesnt rattle or move. I havent completed my lower yet so I'm not able to live fire test it yet. But considering they messed up the handguard I'll probably go have the headspace checked before I fire live round theough it. |

Since the barrel nut is so far off I doubt your gas tube is centered, it's probably being crammed on by the barrel nut. Worst case scenario is get your credit card involved and do a chargeback. Best case they give you your money back. Either way, don't take any product from them as they obviously have no idea what they're doing nor do they care about their product. |

The gas tube look very center to me at least from the rear of the receiver and from what I can see through the handguard. The barrel nut itself also doesn't look off to me. It seems to me that they might have bent the anti-rotating tabs by over-torquing the locking nuts at the bottom. But yeah hopefully I won't have to get the credit card involved in this. I should've stuck with PSA for budget build. I was being impatience since they didn't have any configuration I wanted. Anyone know if Aero Precision upper assemblies are good? |
