| Got my new DDM4 V5 LW yesterday so I had to try it out at the range today. First off I am a newbie to ARs. I have had a DPMS Oracle for a few months that I have put lots of rounds through but this DD is my first real quality gun. I only shot to 60 yards sighting in my scope today with PMC xtac and the groups were about an inch which I was pretty happy with. My problem I had is that the Pmag and the off brand magazine I had would not go into the gun that well. I would load them and give it the same tap I do with my dpms and go to fire only to realize it wasn't all the way in the mag well and a round had not chambered. It did this several times and one round jammed in the process. It seemed like I had to really hit it hard to lock in the mag well. Is this normal? |
| It's not abnormal. When the bolt is forward it can be difficult to seat a fully loaded mag, especially when the mag is brand new. A lot of people download their mags to 28 rounds for this reason, although with Pmags it is generally less of an issue. The simple solution if you want to load a fully loaded 30 rd mag is to lock the bolt to the rear first, then insert the mag, and hit the bolt release. |

Thanks for the heads up! I just picked up a DD M4 V4 last week, and still need to hit the range to zero the Troy BUIS and Aimpoint Micro H-1. Have a few Pmags and old metal 30-rounders. Wasn't planning to put much more than a few rounds in the mags at first, but will top them off now to see if I experience the same insertion issue.
Congrats on the new hardware! |
