I am putting together a 11.5 that will be one of my primary rifles. I have no need to go ultra light weight but weight does matter a lot to me. No lasers or aiming on this handguard at this time. I am considering using the Dark Hour Dark Lite handguard. It is the sister company to Vseven so its not some crap fly by night company. But it also isnt a "go fast" issued handguard. Supposedly the metrial is stronger than 7075 whichnis n impressive. I have one of these rails on a hunting rifle. Mounting is a pain since you have to time the nut. But once timed it uses a locator pin and 6 screw. The one i have locks up well once installed. Also i belive it is the same extrusion as the othe Vsevens just with less machining. The material is not thin or flimsy. It us actually quite a bit thiker than my BCM but still a good bit lighter. Not really mych of a question since i already own one and find it to be a good product. But just wanted to see what you guys think about using one in a more demanding application. Other than being a little harder to install i dont see mych downside. They are "only" about $200, half the weight of many rails and a smooth clean shape i like. Like i said i dont need ultralight. But i cant stand a overly heavy rifle once i hang a can and optics on it. I kind of feel its better to save a few onces on the handguard if that lets me add a few ounces on the barrel profile. |
