| Looking for a FF handguard for my soon to arrive RRA Elite CAR A4. I'm not sure I like the look of the new MI FF 2 pieces and have been considering the YHM or Daniel Defence in midlength. In reading the tutorial here, I see that I must remove the flash hider. Why is this necessary? Also is this an easy job for any old local gunsmith or do I need to send it off to ADCO? The gun will be brand new and took a long time to get so I won't be eager to ship it back out! Thanks for the help. |
All of my schooling and sometimes I'm still quite retarded. I sat and wondered why the FF system wouldn't simply slide around the flash hider never considering that it was actually the front sight that needed to slide over it. Thanks for brining this bit of common sense to my attentionh=85% Quoted: MI #20, will free-float your barrel without removal of the FSB. You will have to cut off the Delta ring and remove the spring, which takes all of 5 minutes w/ the Dremel. Very solid FF accessory IMO. Mike I've considered MI but I'm not sure I like the look actually... I know... function first but it just rubs me the wrong way. So now is removing the FH a simple task? Or is this the kind of thing where you have to drop the gun off and wait 4 weeks for them to get to it? |

Have you checked out the Samson MRFS? I love mine. www.samson-mfg.com No need to remove the FSB or FH. |

I am looking for something to go on my new S&W ar without removing the front site and barrel etc. I just looked at the Samson. Why is it so much more than the YMH and MI. I did notice it was free floating. Any other opieions on this rail? IF YOU CUT OFF THE DELTA RING, TO REPLACE IT LATER DON"T YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE FSB THEN? JRandyH |

They are more because they are made in-house, not outsourced, and have sweet features such as "T markings", removeable bottom rail for M203 attachment / barrel cleaning, and will accept KAC panels. Unlike the Troy, you can add a screw to the detent on the bottom so the rail is 100% fixed with no movement what so ever. Why would you ever want to put the delta ring back on? |

I notice on the website that samson makes it both ways. A free float and a non gree float. How stable would the one be that does not have to cut off the delta ring or to really get it stable do you have to go that route. Why I wouldn't want to cut off the delta ring? Suppose I want to sell the rifle in its original condition at some point. Never say never. JRandyH |

Seeing the CAR Elite is a mid-length gas system, the LaRue Tactical 9.0 FF rail is a great choice Here are instructions on its install ---------> LaRue Tactical 9.0 installation instructions by FARALAK Too bad KAC doesn't have a middy rail. |
My flash suppressor is permanently attached as I have the 14.5" bushmaster barrel. So I had to cut off my FSB. Not a big deal. Just take the pins out, slide it to over where that notch in the barrel is an buzz it with my dremel. Slip the new YHM FF tube on, and added a folding PRI FSB which allowed me to bolt it on. There are may different types of FSB's which can be bolted on instead of pinned back (some now with bayonet lugs).![]() I also got all my stuff from Bright Flashlights and highly recommend them for best price and service. Check out his site on the INDUSTRY section. |
Bingo on the above, because this is your new baby and I assume you want to keep it as pristine as possible the below tool makes things a little easier in handling the FSB removal - www.brownells.com/aspx/ns/store/ProductDetail.aspx?p=20727&title=AR-15+FRONT+SIGHT+BENCH+BLOCK |
Thank you very much to both of you and thanks for the link. Cool tool. |
That's the reason this place exists, helping each other, despite the impression you may get from some. TS |
