I have a Hahn Dedicated 9mm Conversion Block for Colt syle magazines. The LRBHO works by having a transfer lever that is actuated by the magazine follower and then in turn the transfer lever lifts the standard .223 bolt stop in the lower. Its simple, clean, and works every time.

Is there a reason that a similar simple transfer bar system could not be incorporated into a dedicated Glock lower?

It would be awkward due to the angle that Glock mags sit in the receiver. Also, not sure how you would retain the little lever that actuated BHO, either pinned/bolted from receiver side or in a milled pocket internally. Good question, wish I had a better answer.

On Glock mags, the front left of the mag follower is what actuates the slide lock mechanism on Glock pistols. Not on the rear of the mag.

Also, due to the ejector being part of the lower, and its placement on the lower, it is in the way of a simple mechanical solution.

The NFA solution is quite ingenious in its simplicity.  There's a bar in the upper that the Glock mag actuates, causing it to rotate.  When rotated the other end of the bar pushes out against the paddle of the bolt catch.

ETA:  it's not inconceivable for a similar design to be incorporated into the lower but have the bar act against the bottom of the bolt catch.

I'm beginning to come over to your way of thinking. I guess NFA's is the best/most promising solution so far. Of course, as a practical matter, the NFA uppers still aren't available. When they actually are, I will probably get one.

Joebob's has side chargers available and regular uppers available for back order.

And the last batch of NFA uppers were plagued with blemishes and with being terribly out-of-spec. I sent mine back and am now waiting patiently to see if they can do a better job the next time around.

That is disquieting to hear. Even though the LRBHO uppers aren't currently available, I was planning to go ahead and order the matching lower this week. Now I'm having second thoughts.

Are this sort of quality issues common with NFA?

Add me to the list of those that sent their upper back.  Mine was causing the BCG to lockup either in the upper or extension tube or both during both hand charging and live fire.  Although I think the modular BCG might have had something to do with it, I have no definitive proof.

I ended up going with the side charging upper and it functioned fine with the modular BCG, and by fine I mean it did not lock up.  I developed a different issue however (check the thread about NFA Modular BCG for the specifics) and I'm returning my BCG directly to NFA after pieces of the primer are being drawn back into the BCG and jamming the firing pin.

NFA is being very pro-customer and were very quick to offer an upgrade to the standard 9mm BCG as the modular isn't in stock.  JoeBob..well that's a different story.

I was planning to order most of what I need for the build from JoeBob. His prices are lower than NFA. If I order from Runner Runner I have to pay tax because I'm in Texas. Also JoeBob seems to have more of what I need actually in stock.

Of the three possible sources - NFA, JBO, or Runner Runner - which ones are recommended and which aren't?

I'll be getting 9mm Glock LRBHO upper, lower, bolt, buffer, charging handle, and LPK less trigger group.

Prior to my last dealing with JoeBob, I had been very pleased with them in the past 5 orders.  Good price, good product and fast, fair shipping.

My issue with them is they must have such a large customer base that they really don't care about the customer.

As mentioned I got one of those "out of spec" uppers and after 4 emails and about 7 questions about what I ordered (I provided both my customer ID and order number in the first email) they finally said my upper is out of spec and I can send it back for a store credit or refund and wait 4 - 8 weeks for a replacement.

I had spent an hour of range time, and hour of Gunsmith labor, 50+ rds of 9mm, ordered a extra power spring and extension tube spacer in my efforts to troubleshoot and was looking for some sort of "understanding" from them.

I got nothing, even after speaking with their VP the offer was the same.  I took the refund and won't buy from them again.  But that's just me, I'm a stubborn old fart and value customer service over price.
