I'm new to not only Pistol Caliber AR's but to AR's in general. My question is this. If you can run a Hahn Adapter for GG mags in a Cav Arms lower because it has a wider mag well, why can't the mag well on a MilSpec aluminum lower be opened up to accept that same adapter? Is there anyone out there who is set up to do this? I have nothing against Cav Arms lowers, I'm sure they're a fine product. It's just that with the price of lowers being as cheap as they are I see no reason not to run a deicated lower for a pistol caliber upper. In my case I'd like to build a 10mm carbine & it seems like GG mags are the logical way to go.

Thanks

You cannot mill a lower enough for GG mags without seriously compromising it's strength.   The walls would be paper thin.   Scroll down a bit in the rimfire/pistol cal section for a post on modified GG mags.

Thanks Mr45. that was the obvious answer I was looking for. I read the post on the modified GG mags & like you I'm waiting for updates. The price is kinda steep but I'm used to that having owned HK & an LR308 who's mags are both on the high side.

Thanks

You should consider the Cav Mk2 lower if you really want a reliable .45 platform with cheap mags.   I can give you the details of how to do it right if you are interested.

I read all the posts about the Cav MkII lower with the Hahn adapter & using Slash's heavy buffer, but as I said in my original post I am looking to build a 10mm. From what I read CavArms said the 10mm guys were on their own with this one. Slash said he'd work with anyone on his buffers. Have you heard or talked to someone who has done the 10mm conversion? If so I'd be grateful for any help you can give me.

Thanks
