Finding one of the rare Colt 1:7 twist A1 profile barrels would be best - but that isn't likely.

Your best bet is to buy a Bushmaster 1:7 or 1:9 twist A2 profile barrel and have the part foward of the front sight turned down to A1 profile.  Should cost $50 or less for the work.

a 1/12 barrel will stabilize commercial 62grn bullets, but doesn't do so good a job on SS109.  SS109 has a steel core and the actual bullet is longer than lead core 62grn.  SS109 is probably closer to the legnth of 68 or 69 grn commercial lead core (ie... needs faster twist to stabilize).

Wanted a new upper for my SP1. Purchased Daniel Defense large hole flat top upper and had bushmaster install 20" 1x9 Gov't profile barrel. Then installed surplus triangular handguards.
