Get a LMT or CMMG 11.5" chrome lined barrel, with 11" Larue rail, micro gas block, aimpoint w/ LaRue base, Gemtech G5 and flash hider, etc.

Get a Noveske Afghan 14.5" on their Vltor VIS 12" rail system and Gemtech G5 FH.  Newest schmidt & bender short dot optic on Larue mount or new IOR CQB scope if S&B too much $$$

Surefire lights and Troy BUIS on everything.

I just built a 10.5 with a White Oak Armament barrel and it is smooth as glass.

WOA is good stuff and well priced.

If building a 14.5" upper then you might as well save the $200 and registration just going with a 16".

Get a LW piston for the 11.5 ( I would get a 12.5" to use AAC SPR/M4 can) built on a NOVESKE barrel.

Get a Colt 14.5" upper from SAW DD lite rail if you want to hang shit or a NOVESKE 17-4 extream duty upper

Lowers I like MEGA, Colt LPKs, Magpul CTR stocks.

Thats what I would get (have)

I'm in the process of building two SBR's, one in 11.5" and another in 14.5".  It will be my first two projects.  Looking for suggestions on the highest quality lower, upper, barrel and trigger to buy.  Both will be used for tactical entry.  The 11.5" will have a sound suppressor.  The 14.5" will be also utilized for mid range shooting. My budget for both projects is unlimited.  Please be sincere with your suggestions.  I really want to get it right the first time.  Your opinions will be appreciated.  Photos will be posted as soon as they are built.

Mike, if you really want to test the idea of an unlimited budget, shoot me a PM and I'll get you the contact info for a fellow that makes the most hardcore barrels (and other upper parts) available. If you want something that you can abuse beyond traditional views of overkill, he can set you up.

As far as lowers go, go for the MagPul or KAC IWS lower. In either case, you'll want to go with an Accuracy Speaks fire control group if you're going to be running Post-86 style.

Suppressors are a sore subject for many, but you can't go wrong with OPS Inc or AAC if you want a can that you can switch between two builds. The 416SD would be my AAC choice, with the 'unreleased' Runt following close behind. The OPS 14th model is the other can worth looking into.

For the shorty, I would buy a Colt LE6933 Commando and accessorize it as needed. It doesn't get any better then that. If it doesn't have to be an 11.5, then my second choice would be a complete LMT 10.5" rig.

For the 14.5", I would use a Colt M4A1 (SOCOM) barrel and build around that. Depending on how you plan to use this 14.5" weapon, I would possible consider a Noveske or similar medium contour SS match barrel but only if I was setting up more of a RECCE type build and using a magnified optic (glass) type sight. If you are going to be using an Eotech\Aimpoint, I would stick with the Colt barrel.

I am not a Colt Kool-aid drinker, but IMHO if your budget is unlimited buy a Colt or LMT and call it a day.

If he's not planning on taking any kind of training with the rifle, the 6933 would be a great choice. Unfortunately, the thin barrel doesn't hold up too well under rigorous firing schedules...

I know the thin barrels aren't great for full auto but in semi only mode, even with heavy training I would think the thin barrel would be fine if not necessary optimal.

Either way, if my budget was unlimited, my intentions serious and my training heavy... I would have 2 of what ever rifle I was using, regardless of barrel profile or brand name. "2 is 1, 1 is none" and all of that.

My 11.5" SBR

It has been 100% reliable since day 1.  I shot 1100 rds through it in 1 day w/ no failues. Done w/o the suppressor ( I did wipe off/out and re lubricate @ 500 rds)  I've only done 300 rds with the suppressor w/o ant cleaning or lubeing.

Tom Sawyer Zombie Killer Lower
Rock River Upper, LPK, 2 Stage Trigger & BCG
DD 7" Lite Free Float
Mag Pul Stock and Grip
Aim Point Comp M3
Gem Tech M4-02 Suppressor
CMMG 11.5" 1:7 chrome Lined Barrel

I'm doing something similar.  My budget is also unlimited but it may take a couple years to get them both where I want them. (Its only money, you can always get more)

I've already received my stamp for the 10.5" LMT (Went with LMT Upper, Lower, and BCG)

I'm waiting on a stamp for the 14.5" LMT (Going with LMT upper, lower, and BCG).

Thus far my 10.5" LMT has been 100% reliable with cheap Remington UMC, Surplus Guat, Surplus AIM and Wolf.

Jeez.  That must be nice.  I think I would have to buy a bigger house to hold my gun collection.
