| Building my first AR. Can I get a dependable barrel under $150? If not, what do ya'll suggest? |

I have a few Faxon barrels and am quite satisfied. Here is a 16" in the ballpark and occasionally they do sales so sign up for the emails.

I just got in 2 of these for me and my friend.
I believe they are new old stock from the Windham, ME Bushmaster factory. 14.5 inch Bushy $129.95 They are a 14.5 inch chrome lined with a permanently attached IZZY Flash hider, not muzzle brake. They come sans Front Sight Post and Sling Swivel. At this price I think they are a STEAL! |

Ballistic advantage, they run a lot of sales and I think it's andro Corp or something like that has them on special pricing in the ee. This is what I went with after finding great reviews. Ordered from righttobear.com for $115, though it was an 11.5" for a pistol build. |

16", conventional, general purpose rifle. You can find a few bare barrels in that price range, but you are going to need to spend more for one with a front site base already pinned. Andro Corp has the best deal I could find on that. ...but I'm not a fan of the government barrel profile. You could get a plain barrel, then use a clamp-on front sight gas block, like a YHM. It will cost a bit more but you will have a much better selection of barrels. This is my favorite barrel for the price and profile... http://www.gmriflebarrel.com/gm-m8-16-mid-length-gas-system-5-56-nato/ You can get virtually the same barrel with the front sight installed from Sionics Weapon Systems as they use Green Mountain barrels for their products. LINK Thats my $.02, hope it helps a little. |
