I have two Bushmasters w/det handles, 20" and 16".  I can't zero elevation @ 25 or 50 mtr/yds with the front post on either gun.  POI is several inches high @ either distance !.
Is this common with det handles ?, my A2's will zero no problem.  I can bring it down some but I have to unscrew the front post untill it's loose and wobbling in the FSB.

Bushmaster doesn't use an "F" marked front sight base, so you may need the taller front sight post, .040 I think, that Bushmaster sells, in order to zero

Yes, you will need the taller front post. Bushmaster/TDP-compliant detachable carry handles use a 1/2 MOA rear sight base, so it sits a tad high. A F-marked FSB or taller front post is required for proper zeroing.

Now, if you get a detachable carry handle and it works fine with a non-F FSB with the standard height front post, chances are it is a non-TDP compliant DCH (aka non-mil spec), like a DPMS. These tend to use the wrong rear sight bases so who knows what else is out of spec.
