Anyone know of a good place to order JUST a detent spring? I don't need anything else- I know the shipping would kill me. Unless someone here has one they'll sell me. I'll gladly send a couple of bucks to cover all costs!

I don't have one, but I just wanted to post a reply as I am in a similar situation. I just assembled a lower, and my parts kit was complete minus the selector switch detent. A minor inconvenience (I thought) as a gun show was luckily scheduled for the following weekend. Well, for the first time in 5 years the guy who is always there selling AR parts was a no show. I finally broke down and ordered one, but to avoid feeling dumb ordering a .75 cent detent and paying $6 S&H, I also ended up getting a bunch of spare springs, detents, firing pin, etc. My missing .75 cent detent ended up setting me back about $20.

DPMS has no shipping on internet orders, and I think there is a dealer in the EE here that specifically charges a nominal amount for shipping on small parts orders.

I just don't understand why places won't just tape small stuff like detents and small springs to the inside of an envelope and stick a 37 cent stamp on it......and only charge you that much.

I guess it makes too much sense.

Because it takes time to even mail a letter and time is money. Hence, the 'handling' charge.

The $1.95 mentioned above is reasonable.
