I bought a Dewey chamber cleaning kit.  This is my first time cleaning an AR15, so far everything has been fairly straight forward.  The chamber cleaning portion of the kit works great.  However there is an attachment that holds "cotton rolls" for cleaning the lugs from what I can read.  I'm slightly confused on what to even do with this and how this thing works exactly.

Does anyone have any pictures or link to pictures which will make it clearer, or has anyone used this that could give me some instructions?

I appreciate the help.  Adam

You screw the attachment that holds the cotton wad rolls onto the dewey chamber rod. Then you insert it into the area between the lugs and the chamber and use it to clean. You can do the same thing with q-tips or patches, just takes longer.

I appreciate the advice.  I'll have to give it a try next time.  I did it without this time.

Thanks, Adam

These are commonly referred to as "Chamber mops." They're pretty much a big patch that's contoured to fit the chamber. First, you'll put some oil on a chamber brush and scrub out the chamber as well as you can. Then, unscrew the chamber brush and screw on the mop. This will pick up the oil and grime that you've just scrubbed off.

You can also wrap a large patch around a chamber brush, but this doesn't work as well.

Hope this helps

EDIT: Sorry, misunderstood "rolls."
Cheers, anyway!

Sorry about that.  I could have clarified it better.  I need to pick up some more chamber mops as well.

Thanks, Adam
