Although the gas block is designed for another setup I purchased a Diamondhead Rail Height Gas Block because it has a rail extension which will help fill in the void left from using a 12" free float rail hand guard. I'll fabricate an additional section of rail to fill what's left of the void and cover most of the patch with an offset BUIS.
But never mind all of that...The quality of the Diamondhead is what impressed me. All steel construction but weighs about as much as an aluminum BTE rail height block. It has two socket head screws for a compression fit that precisely bonds it to the barrel and a machinist's level on the block remains level while tightening. The thing looks like a miniature pot belly stove and it's not cheap. I was lucky to find the block at Man Venture Outpost for less than $60.00 delivered using a product code. It went through their very slow 3 step economy processing, economy packaging and economy shipping...13 days worth.
The block also has a generous size gas port so spacer alignment does not have to be spot on like some others and it uses a mil spec pin which is not included. Even with some longer free float hand-guards there can be a very noticeable gap and the beefy overhang can easily be machined to fit.

I was so close to buying that gas block for my carbine build. had it in my hand and everything.... but then found an Armalite FS i wanted to run, so i had to get a lower profile gas block. But i second your review, that thing was built solid.
