I need to sight in some rifles I have and I have some 75grn hornady bthp match ammo I'd like to do it with. Would there be any real difference in zero if I plan to use the 75grn tap for hunting?

If both are the .223 loading then the difference between the two should be small.  However depending on the load and lot, the difference could be inches off.  Always check zero with the ammo your going to use for serious work.

The difference will be VERY little. I can tell you that as much as I shoot (Including National Match) I am not good enough to notice a difference even out to 600. If you ARE that good of a shot, you may notice some deviation. Then again you probably wouldn't have asked the question if you're that good......

There are at least 5 different 75 grain Hornday ammos with 3 different bullet profiles. You dont specifically say which you are using.

75 gr TAP

75 gr Match

75 gr Match Superperformance

75 gr NATO Match Superperformance

75 gr Steel Match

Having shot all of these recently and for comparison, I can tell you they perform significantly differently. IMO you always have to get your zero and DOPE info for the longer shots from the exact same ammo and lot.

In my 23" Lilja barreled, 1/8", Wylde chamber AR, the 75 gr NATO Match Superperformance had the best combination of accuracy (100 & 300yds), lowest drop and highest velocity of these rounds (my rifle has peak accuracy with 68-69 gr rounds). The 75 NATO Superperformance is loaded really hot and can take small game like coyote at 500 yards easily.

In my particular rifle (not yours), the TAP FPD would not group well and it really showed up at 200 yds and beyond.

Edit regarding the graph: Hornday and other sites have nice online ballistics calculators.  Unfortunately, you will have to chrono some rounds to get real velocity information for your specific barrel/setup.  A chrono is mandatory for any kind of long range shooting anyway, so get one if you dont have one.
