Walmart around here stopped carrying the (relatively) cheap Federal 100rd bulk packs so I was looking at buying some ammo in bulk online. Is there a real benefit to paying $10 extra dollars per thousand for PMC XTAC over PMC Bronze?
I understand the Bronze is 55gr .223 ammo while the XTAC is 62gr 5.56. I will be shooting out of a carbine gas 16" 1/7 barrel. Would I see any benefit using the XTAC ammo in regards to accuracy? Shoots relatively reliable as well? Any input and experience welcome! |

There is also PMC X-TAC M193(55g) HERE All 3 are good ammo but the X-TAC seems cleaner and do have more zing.

PMC X-Tac 55g 3270fps
PMC Bronze 55g 3200fps Lake City (Fed) M193 55g 3165fps I think faster is better for tumbling. 62g should be more stable in a 1:7 barrel. I've shot a lot of Bronze and Lake City and they shoot about the same. I like the Bronze a bit better only because it's a little faster. |

PMC velocities are at muzzle with no barrel length listed
XM193 velocity is at 78’ with a 20” barrel. When reloading maximum velocity loads are almost never the most accurate. Over stabilizing a bullet generally detracts from accuracy. 55gr is probably best at 1:12, but it certainly works at 1:7. 62gr M855 type bullets are not noted for accuracy. The best ammo for your rifle is the one that actually shoots the best. The ammo FAQ does not break down PMC by type, but PMC’s website would indicate that X-Tac is the premium ammo of the two. |

5.56 vs .223. PMC Bronze is noted to be on the slower side...... unless you're referring to AE .223...... |
